Tukwila Backyard Wildlife Festival

This Saturday, May 14th from 9 to 3 is the Tukwila Backyard Wildlife Festival–held the second Saturday in May every year.  The festival coincides with International Migratory Bird Day and promises to be a fun day for everyone.

I’ll be dressed as Shelly the Snail, teaching the kids all about snails and slugs and what they do for the environment at 10:30 am, then at 12:00 I’ll be presenting in plain clothes for adults: “4 Easy Steps to Attract Pollinators”.  Of course, I’m just warming up for Cisco Morris, who is the headliner for the event.

Of particular interest to me are the plant vendors, the 4th annual recycled art show and the self-guided local garden tour that includes the Highline Seatac Botanic Gardens.  There will be myriad exhibitors and arts and crafts, so how can you go wrong?  There’s a special focus on hands-on activities for kids.
